Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
about what i'd predicted? the word count goal i set for myself in the beginning of the year was 50k and i was close!!! i was supposed to finish [redacted wonhui fic] before the year ended but decided to lay in bed playing animal crossing instead...i don't think i put any of that fic in my 2017 word count goal though i did write it in 2017...so considering that, i think i did end up hitting 50k!
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
i always manage to surprise myself so i guess everything...more of surprised of what i didn't write?? (my typical het pairing drabble/ficlets!)
Did you take any writing risks this year?
not really, but i think i put more thought into what i did write? so even if the fics weren't out of my usual style/genre they were more developed?? hopefully!!
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
FINISH [REDACTED WONHUI FIC], please @ self, it's been 2 years...
also continuing on writing through each seventeen member's pov/write different seventeen pairings...i fell back to seokgyu and wonhui, my usual suspects, this year...this year is the year i write lee chan fic!! and josh fic!!
i also think i should finally write a ten/taeyong that i keep telling myself to every 3 weeks. it's no longer 2016 and no one except me still ships them...
What were last year's goals?
"i want to try writing from each seventeen member's pov...that's a very huge goal/committment because there are thirteen of them (i think i've written from...five so far. which is more than i actually thought!!!). i want to write more full-length fics rather than ficlets/drabbles, though who knows what time will allow u___u i'd also like to finally write the wonwoo/jun fic i've been meaning to since summer. pairings-wise, i'd like to try writing some femslash or girl group centric fic??? also! i want to finish my holiday advent fics T___T"

My best story of the year:
i don't know...i'm uncharacteristically fond of everything i wrote this year?? none of them are perfect or close to that at all, but i think back on them like "ah, yes, my child..."
My most popular story of this year:
king of baking, kim mingyu. from last year's dk/jaehyun to this year's seokgyu there's a pattern, and it's that seokmin fic brings in all the readers!!
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
none? i'm constantly amazed that people even clicked through 7-8k of my het crackship fic haha!
Most fun story to write:
i wanna say king of baking, kim mingyu but it was only the initial idea planning that was fun...after i started writing and figured out i only planned the first 1/3 of the fic, everything just became hard. writing is hard ):
OH WAIT i totally forgot this fic existed, but anything you can do!! i had fun writing petty rich kids haha!
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
alaska and yolk. for how much i love jun, i'd never written from his pov so it was a change and a challenge at the same time! i think in writing the fic and trying to reconcile how i see him to fic junhui made me think more about the jun we see on the screen...for yolk, i specifically set out to remix that specific fic because i wanted to write sejeong! i think she's a very complex person and had been undergoing a lot of scrutiny since her popularity boom...i don't know but i always end up loving every idol i write about so that happened haha!
Hardest story to write:
king of baking, kim mingyu...i couldn't write for a good month after without thinking about how many days i toiled over that fic...
Biggest disappointment:
that i didn't finish a lot of the fics i started this year ): also i'm iffy about do you wanna dance? i think the first 2/3 is nice but the last bit is where i kinda want to x out of the tab.
Biggest surprise:
sharp shooter!! after telling myself for 2 years, i finally wrote the full length seulgi/sungjoo fic of my dreams! ...because i am the only one who dreams about reading seulgi/sungjoo fic...
Most unintentionally telling story:
toss up between fear, an apple a day and alaska. i think most of my fics are pretty telling of me though haha!

Ten drives a Rolls Royce. He takes said Rolls Royce around the college town as if to make every car that he passes look like a plain Jane, almost self-conscious of itself. It's a white monster of a vehicle with a camel hood and so clean it gives of a light in the dimmest of darknesses, cast under a broken street light. Doyoung would know because he's seen said Rolls Royce slinking around in the night after Taeyong decides to get shit-faced for once at someone's dumb house-party when Ten, also for once, decides not to. Doyoung pretends that he isn't watching the tail lights disappear into the mouth of past-midnight, well-timed sip of Samuel Adams beer burning the back of his throat when everything becomes black again. Ten says it tastes like America, all one hundred percent Thai, grown and raised, of him. Doyoung, suspiciously Korean-American says it tastes like bullshit (it doesn't actually).

A laugh trickles up Seokmin's throat at that. It tastes like the satisfying crunch of a churro dipped in dark chocolate, the tartness of lemon custard through a cloud of sweet meringue, the soft of perfectly baked bread. But most of all, it tastes like the silence that settles over them in the aftermath, full of all the words that haven’t been – and are still yet to be – said between them.

And if it works out, well. There's a certain pride to feel when you defy fate and live to tell the tale, after all.

This is the first time that Jonghyun hears the silence ring out, louder and more promising than a battle cry.

It hadn’t been a reciprocated first love, nor really an unrequited one. It felt more like Seulgi running around with the heart on her sleeve hidden under several layers of winter coats, and when she finally overheated and pulled all those layers off, the heart she’d sown on wasn’t among them. Only the thought that it possibly existed lingered in her memory, and it would haunt her every now and then about where it disappeared to.

But despite all that, despite the future that Seokmin swears his sleepless nights are worth, Kim Mingyu who has everything Seokmin wants stands opposite from him, waiting with his fragile heart in his hands, and just wants Seokmin.

Jonghyun recommended her this book, and Nayoung wonders if she's being petty if she lets herself admit that she hates it a few pages in. So she sits there, reads the book, and keeps scanning over the same sentence for hours trying to figure out what she's reading.
